Andrew Schmitt, LCSW
9:15-10:15 a.m.

Overview

Gaudenzia, the largest nonprofit evidence-based treatment provider for substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders in the Mid-Atlantic region, has initiated several groundbreaking programs to reduce barriers to care and improve access to treatment for traditionally underserved populations, including those living in rural communities. Gaudenzia's Corporate Medical Director, Dr. Philip Moore, and Gaudenzia’s Director of Corporate Outpatient Services, Andrew Schmitt, LCSW, will share the agency's experience and expertise in innovatively expanding access to Medication Assisted Treatment through telehealth and mobile services. Participants will gain practical knowledge and insight in understanding the value and process of moving beyond brick-and-mortar service delivery to address the overdose and addiction crises.

Learning Objectives

  • Developing a workflow for a sustainable Medication Assisted program within an established behavioral healthcare model.

  • Integrating telehealth services to offer Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) service lines for programs which lack bandwidth to support a medical model or medical complement of multiple providers at brick and mortar locations.

  • Developing effective processes for recruitment, training, supervision, and support of implemented medical model, simultaneously monitoring the efficacy of said practices.
